Case Study # 2

A demo of On Target Measuring’s services was set up measure a string of casing, which was previously unloaded, drifted, and measured.

Error Type: Tally Transfer Error

Upon completion of measuring, both tallies were pieced together into a single sheet for easier comparison.

Immediate attention was directed to to joint # 12, as it was over two feet off in length.

With casing on racks still, a hand strapped remeasure was done, and it was uncovered during transcribing lengths from a tally book to final copy to be turned in, a transcribing error was done, confusing a ‘3’ for a ‘5’, which made the measurement length off by 2 feet.

This transcription error in addition to joints # 3-6, 20, 22, 23, 27, & 28 being out of tolerance of our standards (+/- .02’).
